USDA Will Showcase NTech's Greenseeker Fertilizing Technology at Global Meeting of Agricultural Ministers

Ukiah, Calif. - When the agricultural ministers from 180 nations meet June 23-25 in Sacramento to discuss strengthening global food security, NTech Industries' GreenSeeker optical sensor-based fertilizer system will take center stage.

The GreenSeeker development team at Oklahoma State University (OSU) has been chosen to represent the USDA's Cooperative Research, Education & Extension Service at the first annual Ministerial Conference and Expo on Agricultural Science and Technology. OSU will be the academic representative for the entire nation.

USDA Secretary Ann M. Veneman wanted to illustrate the way the extension program works through land grant universities to create new agricultural technology for the public, according to an OSU spokesman.

Last year, Secretary Veneman presented the GreenSeeker research team with a USDA Honor Award "for developing the most revolutionary approach in a century to fertilizing crops …"

GreenSeeker measures a plant's health and vigor, then delivers--in a fraction of a second--the precise amount of fertilizer needed to maximize crop yield. While GreenSeeker was initially configured to fertilizer wheat fields, it is now being adapted for use on other crops.

NTech Industries commercialized the GreenSeeker and is now manufacturing and marketing it around the world, along with its first generation WeedSeeker sensor used globally for weed and pest control.
